Description
This saw has large aggressive teeth and is designed to be an alternative to a small chainsaw. The blade is 360mm long. The teeth have not been hardened, so you can sharpen them when needed. The blade is hollow ground to reduce friction and increase the ease and speed of the cutting action. The teeth are set, which means you cut a large amount of wood in one stroke. The blade is made from SK4, a high carbon steel, and is then coated in chrome to reduce rust and protect the blade.
The handle is made from Silky’s special GOM material, giving superior grip and reducing vibration.
The Masaru is a pull saw. All cutting occurs on the pull stroke. Put a minimal amount of pressure on the blade as you pull it toward yourself, then glide the saw forward. On the forward stroke the teeth clear the timber or material, and on the pull stroke the saw cuts again.
All parts of the saw are replaceable. The Masaru 360mm comes with a scabbard that also has replaceable parts.
